Obituary of Kenneth Omlid

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for Kenneth Ernest Eugene Omlid of Eugene, who died July 1 of age-related causes. He was 93.He was born May 16, 1917, in Werner, S.D., to Charles and Selma Reirsgaard Omlid. He married Dolly Newton on Aug. 17, 1944.He received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Oregon in 1950. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a golf instructor at the UO, and was the owner and operator of McKenzie River Golf Course in Springfield. He held elective office, serving as Lane County assessor and as a Lane County commissioner.Survivors include his wife; a brother, Lloyd of McKenzie River; and three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Arrangements by West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene.
