Obituary of Delmer Benston

Delmer Lowell Benston of Crooked River Ranch, former long-time resident of Lane County, died June 24 of age-related causes. He was 84. A private family service is planned.He was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Saginaw to Lowell and Ruby Keene Benston. He married Mary Blevins on Aug. 28, 1948, in Cottage Grove. She died in 1990. He married Florence Erickson in 1994 in Bend.He graduated from Cottage Grove High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in the logging industry, including 30 years at Weyerhaeuser.Survivors include his wife; three sons, Carl of Klawock, Alaska and Marvin and Kelly, both of Cottage Grove; a sister, Mary Krebser of Battle Ground, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.Burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to the Lions Club.
