Obituary of Joan Elizabeth Winter 2/26/1930 to 7/10/2010
Joan Elizabeth Winter was born in Lewiston Idaho in 1930. Her parents were Charles and Ethel Brownsworth.She was a child prodigy at the age of three, playing the piano like a pro by ear with no formal training or lessons and she was known for tap dancing up a storm for her mother’s customers at the beauty shop she owned.Joan married Eben Winter and had two children Judy and Nick. She was the center of the family always. Joan always had a wonderful spirit about her; she was funny, smart and always current in her thinking. She was a nurturer a protector and her goals always revolved her family and others. A compassionate person she certainly was and all that knew her would say the same thing. She loved her kids, her grand kids and she was able to also meet her great grandson Darby Winter. A dream of hers was to be a great grandma.She belonged to the red hat society club and there met so many wonderful friends. She also enjoyed swimming, travel and playing the organ. In her later years she so enjoyed road trips with her husband exploring Oregon. Her favorite place was Bandon, Oregon; she was an avid collector of light house things. She always said there was just something spiritual about light houses and she visited all of them along the Oregon Coast.Joan passed away at 80 years old and will be truly missed by all that knew her.She is survived by her husband Eben Winter, daughter, Judy Lund of Eugene, son, Nick Winter of Portland, 4 grand kids, Jordan, Rian, Emily and Megan and one great grandson.Burial will be handled by Poole-Larsen. As per her wishes, she will be transported to Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Oregon to be near her mother.There is a lighthouse nearby so may that light shine upon her forever!
