Obituary of Harry Chase

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at First Baptist Church in Eugene for former longtime Lane County resident Harry Leland Chase Jr. of Sisters, who died July 8 of age-related causes. He was 92.He was born on April 14, 1918, in Eugene to Harry and Etta Mitchell Chase. He married Betty Jean Vanatta on Dec. 28, 1940, in Eugene. She died on Nov. 27, 2001.He graduated from University High School and attended the University of Oregon. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 34 years.Survivors include two daughters, Ann Knight of Sisters and Jane Mann of Eugene; a sister, Geraldine Brenaman of Eugene; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
