Obituary of James Wampler

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Springfield Memorial Gardens for James Thornton Wampler of Pleasant Hill, who died Aug. 4 of cancer. He was 98.He was born June 28, 1912, in Jefferson to Lewis and Iva Gantz Wampler. He married Frieda Brown on Oct. 2, 1936, in Reedsport.He worked for the Western Lane County Road Department driving gravel trucks and worked for the Mount June Lumber Co.Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bonnie Harrsch of Pleasant Hill; a son, Larry Wampler of Encinitas, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Buss of Florence; a brother, Rex Wampler of Florence; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
