Obituary of Robert Phifer

Robert PhiferA memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church for Robert L. “Bob” Phifer of Eugene, who died Aug. 6 of age-related causes. He was 88.He was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He married Eileen O’Brien in Edmonton, Alberta. She died in 1977. He married Nan Rendall in 1978 in Eugene.He graduated from Harvard Medical School and the Mayo Clinic. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947. He was an orthepedic surgeon in Eugene from 1957-1991.Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Molloy of Astoria, N.Y.; a stepson, Matthew Rendall of Nottingham, England; and two grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
