Obituary of Doyd Reed

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eugene for Doyd Lester John Reed of Eugene, who died Aug. 27 of age-related causes. He was 92.He was born July 25, 1918, in Ray, N.D., to Edward and Mary Buckner Reed. He married Eleanor Racine on June 27, 1942, in Fort Wayne, Ind.He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps. As a teen, he worked in coal mines in North Dakota. He worked for several companies in Fort Wayne and for Pierce Irrigation in Eugene, retiring in 1982.Survivors include his wife; a son, Bruce of Portland; a daughter, Corrine Thompson of Manchester, Mo.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; a granddaughter, Ann Thompson, died previously.A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.
