Aidan and Eryn Flannery Rauscher

Obituary of Aidan Jane and Eryn Flannery Rauscher

Aidan Jane Rauscher August 18, 2001-September 20, 2010 Eryn Flannery Rauscher February 11, 2003 - September 20, 2010 The circles of their lives are complete, whole and perfect. We remember Aidan and Eryn each radiating joy and vitality in their experience of every new day, warming and energizing those around them through the reality of their presence. Aidan who was gifted with intuitive insight into people and situations, used gentle nurturing to help and encourage others. She found joy in their deeds and accomplishments. She was courageous, trying anything once, from riding the biggest roller coaster in California to eating the tiniest oyster. She politely turned down the second oyster. Aidan decided she wanted to take an acting class which allowed her to explore and "be" other personas. She practiced her accents and affects with anyone who would play along. Aidan used music and dancing in her play to amuse and delight herself and anyone nearby. Spontaneously busking at the Holiday Market one year, Aidan, Eryn, and a schoolmate performed with kazoos and joyful voices. When they emptied their hat and tallied its contents, they found they had earned $35. Aidan took her portion and walked around the Market buying kitty cat magnets for her classmates' holiday gift. Eryn had a strong sense of herself and her personal boundaries. Known for her late night and early morning writing sessions, she would always fend off the pleading and cajoling of adults? requests to read a little of her writings. "They are private diaries", she would sweetly declare. Eryn possessed both an active curiosity and a healthy skepticism. Everyone knew she would not necessarily believe, nor take seriously, the first explanation offered. She was a spark plug, igniting laughter and amusement. Her tricks and pranks were often humorously directed toward Aidan, the family rule-keeper. Aidan had her hands full! Eryn's creative dress and irrepressible laughter brought smiles from everyone. She loved cooking, especially making salads, and she had the scar to prove it. She loved all things musical, from the musical nature of Mandarin Chinese to playing the piano with Uncle Sean. One activity that the girls enjoyed together was studying dance at the Eugene School of Ballet. They enthusiastically participated 3 years running in The Nutcracker in addition to several other performances at the Hult Center. Stage fright never occurred to them. Another significant activity they shared was their productive time as students at Oak Hill School, both academically and creatively. They were individually valued and challenged to promote their personal growth and love of learning. Aidan and Eryn each had a personality and an approach to the world that beautifully complemented her sister's. They loved each other deeply. Aidan and Eryn, you live on in us and in all that we do. This is our honor and our sacred responsibility. Thank you for sharing your time with us; our lives are sweeter, fuller. Thank you for the fun and the laughter which cleansed us and helped us recognize the joy in being. Thank you for your voices that we will hear forever on the wind. Thank you for your smiles that warmed us like sunshine upon our faces. Thank you for all the love and beauty you gave us. We all love you and we feel your love for us. Peace be with you, Sweet Angels, peace be with us all.
