Obituary of Fran Warner
Oct. 21, 1909 — Oct. 8, 2010Fran Warner, 100, a longtime Lebanon resident, passed away Friday peacefully in her sleep.Fran was born in Baxter Township, Minn. She was the 14th of 15 children born to Hans and Julia Mork. All of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death.Fran graduated from Lutheran Normal School in 1927. She visited several of her brothers in Oregon in the 1930s and took up permanent residence soon thereafter. She became a resident of Lebanon in the 1940s. She married JB Chester Warner on July 2, 1949. Son Michael was born on Oct. 14, 1950. Chester passed away after a long illness in February 1964.Fran had three great loves: her church, her family and gardening. She was a charter member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in the early 1950s. She was very active in the church, serving for many years as Sunday school superintendent, as a member of the church council and in the church choir. She was very close to her numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Her greatest love was spending time with family. She often traveled to Minnesota to visit relatives and once traveled to Norway. Fran was famous for her yard and garden. She won numerous awards for her flowers at the Strawberry Festival. She also enjoyed fishing with her brothers and sisters.She was active even into her 90s and lived at the family home until moving to the Oaks in late 2002. Her 100th birthday coincided with the 100th anniversary of the Strawberry Festival. The Oaks featured her and three other residents who were also celebrating their 100th birthday that year in their float. The float won the grand-prize.Fran is survived by her son, Mike Warner of Eugene; daughter Joanne Torrey of Portland; grandson Dave Torrey of Portland; granddaughter Jan Dailey of Portland; numerous great-granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-great-granddaughters and great-great-grandsons; as numerous nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Burial will be at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is handling arrangements.
