Obituary of Alphonse Salaets

SPRINGFIELD — A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Lawrence Street Chapel in Eugene for Alphonse Salaets of Springfield, who died Oct. 14 of age-related causes. He was 96.He was born Feb. 10, 1914, in Buena Park, Calif., to Victor and Lowisa Verindliur Salaets. He married Betty Keller in 1948 in Orange County, Calif. They later divorced.He served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a journeyman plumber until his retirement in 1976.Survivors include a son, Ron of Springfield; a daughter, Pamela Johnson of Eugene; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.Inurnment will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.
