Obituary of Francis Brooks
Francis BrooksA memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Eugene for Francis “Bus” Brooks of Eugene, who died Oct. 19 of age-related causes. He was 97.He was born June 20, 1913, in Carmen, Okla., to Francis and Una Cameron Brooks. He married Amy Cobleigh on March 12, 1938, in Liberty, Mo. She died June 28, 1997. He married Shirley Oglesby on May 30, 1998, in Eugene.He attended school at Prairie Valley School outside of Carmen. He worked as a book binder for the Nazarene Publishing House in Kansas City, Mo., for 10 years and for the University of Oregon for 15 years. He retired from the UO in 1973.Survivors include his wife; a son, Ken of Junction City; three daughters, Marjorie Brooks of Scottsdale, Ariz., Janet Brooks of Willow, Alaska, and Carol Brooks of Denver; two stepdaughters, Cherrill Witham and Beverly Hawks, both of Eugene; two stepsons, John Oglesby of Springfield and Robert Oglesby of Cottage Grove; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Kansas City.
