Kermit JohnsonThe funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene for Kermit R. Johnson of Eugene, who died Nov. 1 of age-related causes. He was 85.Visitation will be at noon Thursday at the mortuary.He was born June 7, 1925, in Myrtle Point to Clarence and Flossie Chandler Johnson. He married Carmen Stephens on Aug. 21, 1981 in Reno, Nev.He was a World War II veteran and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He helped build power plants and dams and worked as a woodworker, farmer and a hog fuel operator for the Culp Creek branch of Bohemia Lumber Co.Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Debbie Webster of Springfield; four sons, Gary and Richard, both of Coos Bay, Steve of Harrisburg, and Sammy of Eugene; a brother, Don Johnson of Springfield; six stepdaughters, Cheryl Gordon, Barbara Whitman and Terri Foran, all of Eugene, Cindy Southard of Fallon, Nev., Shannon Hewitt and Bonnie Hewitt, both of Milton Freewater; a stepson, Glenn Hewitt of Eugene; 21 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.Burial will be at Alford Cemetery in Harrisburg. Remembrances to the Veteran’s Association.
