Gwen was born April 27, 1946 in Caulderstone, Cheshire, England to Norman and Dorothy Sangster, Gwen met and married Gary Schubert in Granada Hills, CA, while working and attending college in the greater San Fernando Valley. An unplanned pause during their young dating days was due to Gary's military service in 1964-66. Upon his discharge the couple were reunited and married in August 1967. Gwen worked at Security Pacific National Bank beginning in Granada Hills, CA.; Newbury Park, Westlake Village, Oxnard and Santa Paula branches in various managerial positions. In 1976 the young family moved from Newbury Park to Eugene, OR. She continued her banking career at Citizens Bank as a training officer and later helped pioneer the new Cottage Grove Bank as vice president of operations. Her banking expertise led to membership in the National Women in Banking. This led to more community involvement and service on many committees and boards including: Y.M.C.A., Easter Seals, Young Life, Junior Achievement, Chamber of Commerce, Children's Miracle Network, Sacred Heart Medical Foundation, Eugene Symphony and managed time as a Girl Scout leader and held presidency for twelve years for her home owner's association. After her banking career she worked with her husband as V.P., Media Director of their advertising agency. Then later, accepted a part-time sales position at Chico's and was a top sales person nationwide. Gwen loved her family deeply and occasions together, most of all. And she was always so grateful for friends that supported her through prayer and practical assistance. She loved gardening, bird watching, gifts of flowers, and traveling to the coast with her husband and Beamer, the family dog. Her favorite pastime was watching the Food Network TV programming.
