Obituary of Alice Kelso

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on April 2 at the SongBrook Clubhouse in Eugene for Alice Maurine Kelso of Eugene, who died Nov. 29 of age-related causes. She was 97.Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Lane Memorial Gardens.She was born June 9, 1913, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Gabe and Orpha Wagoner Holden. She married Vernon Kelso on Aug. 27, 1936, in Iowa. He died in 1995.She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She ran an all-organic blueberry business and worked as the primary department superintendent for Eugene First Baptist Church.Survivors include four daughters, June Curtis and Marvel Huff, both of Eugene, Phyllis Hartwig of Caldwell, Idaho, and Linda Davenport of La Pine; two sons, Glen of Bend and Jim of Tualatin; a brother, Glen Holden of Kirkland, Wash.; and 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A son, Vernon, and a brother, Edwin Holden, died previously.Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to Teen Challenge Hannah’s House in Eugene.
