Obituary of Elmer Harles

Elmer HarlesThe funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Eugene for Elmer B. Harles of Eugene, who died Dec. 7 of age-related causes. He was 93. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Musgrove Family Mortuary.He was born April 4, 1917, in Elizabeth Township, Minn., to Albert and Mary Sauer Harles. He married Myrtle Dahlke on Jan. 18, 1945, in Fargus Falls, Minn.He held a high school certificate from Eugene High School and attended Purdue. He served in the Navy in the Pacific and at New London, Conn. He worked as an auto mechanic from Minnesota Motor Company and at Joe Romania.Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carol McGarry of the Seattle area, Susan Garland of Beaverton and Geri Goode of Springfield; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Burial, with military honors, will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eugene.
