Obituary of Leonard Wing
Leonard Wing Sr.The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene for Leonard “Leo” Wing Sr. of Eugene, who died Dec, 14 of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 87. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.He was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Beaver, Okla., to George and Alida Murry Wing. He and his first wife, Mary, were married Sept. 8, 1947, in Van Buren, Ark. She died May 11, 1996. He married Teresa Salas on May 30, 1997, in Austin, Texas.He graduated from Strong City High School. He served in the Navy during World War II, in the Army in Korea and was a drill instructor at Fort Polk. He was a barber. He also was a farmer in Stillwater, Okla. He owned Leo’s Hair Design in Eugene.Survivors include two sons, Larry Hopkins of Eugene and David Wing of Spriingfield; a daughter, Sherrie Dexter of Eugene; three sisters, Marie McGarraugh of Perryton, Texas, Evelyn Kisner of Austin, Texas, and Vera Williams of Pampa, Texas; two brothers, George Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, and Clarence of Sayer, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Brenda Graves, died July 27, 2008.Burial with military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to Norkenzie Christian Church.
