Obituary of Edna Langeliers

A celebration of life will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 17, at Springfield Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home for Edna Langeliers of Springfield, who died Dec. 10 at age 86. The family chose not to list the cause of death. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.She was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Herreid, S.D., to Jacob and Amelia Schoeck Schmidt. She married Edward Matthew Langeliers on May 11, 1945, in Linton, N.D. He died Nov. 10, 1990.She earned a high school degree and worked as a teacher, nurse’s aide and retail clerk.Survivors include three sons, Larry of University Place, Wash., Neil of Eugene and Lyle of Springfield; a brother, Arlo Schmidt of Herreid; seven sisters, Norma Zalewski of Selah, Wash., Annetta Fetterley of Pollock, S.D., Hilda Davis of Fayette, Mo., Alma Ryckman of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Lucille Hirning of Hague, N.D., Alice Widdeos of Las Vegas and Phyllis Fjeldheim of Pollock; and eight grandchildren.Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to Saint Paul Center, United Methodist Church in Springfield.
