Obituary of Thomas Flegal

Thomas FlegalA memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene for Thomas Milton Flegal of Eugene, who died Dec. 11 of cancer. He was 68.He was born July 8, 1942, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Ralph and Catherine Flegal. He married Rita Kavanaugh on Nov. 30, 1974, in Castro Valley, Calif.He graduated from Angola High School in Indiana in 1960. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University in 1964 and with a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of California, Davis in 1972. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1970. He worked as a consulting environmental engineer, specializing in waste water treatment, for Yoder, Trotter and Orlob, then for more than 30 years for Brown and Caldwell.Survivors include three daughters, Kristin Flegal of Ann Arbor, Mich., Tricia Flegal of Eugene and Kerry Flegal of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Janie Dietsch of Edgerton, Ohio, and Cheryl Bailey of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; three brothers, John of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Al of Angola, Ind., and Paul of Fort Wayne, Ind.Remembrances to the University of Oregon outdoor program.
