Obituary of Donald Lay

Donald LayELMIRA — A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the First Evangelical Church for Donald Leroy Lay of Elmira, who died Dec. 11 of age-related causes. He was 77.He was born June 1, 1933, in Eugene to John and Dorothy Hapner Lay.He graduated from University High School in 1953. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army and served two years in the Korean war. He worked at International Paper for 29 years.Survivors include four sisters, Theresa Phillips of New Mexico, Susan McKern of LaPine, Lois Stafford of Lakebay, Wash., and Sharon Hirons of Eugene; and four brothers, James and Dennis, both of Eugene, and Larry and Gary, both of Elmira.Inurnment will be at Gates Cemetery in Crow. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the American Diabetes Association.
