Obituary of Jack Barkovic

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield for Jack Barkovic of Springfield, who died Dec. 13 of age-related causes. He was 92.He was born March 27, 1918, in International Falls, Minn., to Joseph and Kathryn Mayer Barkovic. He married Lucille Becken on Jan. 27, 1940, in Reno, Nev.He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a squadron Bombardier with the 15th Air Force. He owned and operated a lumber mill in Minnesota and worked as a real estate broker in Springfield for 20 years.Survivors include his wife; and a son, Dan of Eugene.Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
