Obituary of Irma Constance Baldrow
BALDROW: Irma Constance (Watson) beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her residence in Fairview Home on Thursday October 25, 2012 at the age of 89 years. Irma is lovingly remembered by her children Arline (Ken) and Keith, grandchildren Craig (Christy), Lindsey (Tim) and Laird, great grandchild Olivia Rose.
Irma was predeceased by her husband Harold (Bud) in 1995 and her son Warren (Rusty) in 1979, her parents Agnes and William Watson, her four sisters and one brother.
Irma was born on January 02, 1923 in Truro N.S. When she was eight her mother passed away and she moved to Manitoba to live with her Mother's sister Aunt Annie and her husband Uncle Harry on their farm near Shoal Lake, MB. Over the years, Irma kept in close contact with her sisters. There were lots of letters written, many phone calls and trips to Nova Scotia to visit.
Irma attended school in Shoal Lake and worked as a telephone operator with MTS in Shoal Lake.
She met her husband Harold (Bud) Baldrow in Shoal Lake and they were married April 14, 1948. They resided in Brandon and raised their three children. In 1979, she faced a tragedy when her eldest son, Warren, was killed in a plane crash.
Mom was a wonderful homemaker who loved nothing more than caring for her family, making delicious meals, and her baking was enjoyed by all. As her family grew up, she went back to work first at Woolco in their sewing centre and later to The Bay and Zellers.
After Dad passed in 1995, Mom remained in her home until 1997. She moved to The Towers and then to The Colonial Estates. In the spring of 2009, after a brief stay at the Assiniboine Centre, she moved to Fairview Home.
We would like to thank Dr. Blyth and the staff on the first floor at Fairview Home for their professional and compassionate care of Irma.
A private family interment took place at the Brandon Cemetery with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Donations in memory of Irma may be made to a charity of choice.
