Obituary of Noble Wheeler

Noble G. Wheeler of Boise, ID, formerly of Noti, died Dec. 25th, 2010, at the age of 97 of age related causes. He was born August 21, 1913 in Trent, OR to C.B. (Bruce) and Millie Wheeler. Noble married Eleanor Corthell on Dec. 26, 1938, in Coos Bay, OR. She died on Sept. 8th, 2003. Noble worked for Swanson Lumber as a log scaler; he was also a farmer. He was a strong local leader, serving as an elder and teacher at Noti Church of Christ and serving many years on the board of Fern Ridge District Schools. In addition, Noble served 12 years with the IED board, 2 of which were as chairman, and he worked on committees with the State Board of Education as well. Noble was also known locally and nationally as a top breeder of Corridale sheep, having set a record in 1979 with a top selling ram and being involved in various leadership capacities for over 60 years at the Lane County Fair. Noble is survived by his children: Barbara Haniuk of Eugene; Darrell Wheeler of Oakridge; Darlene Cannon of Veneta; Bruce Wheeler of Boise, ID; Glenn Wheeler of Shawnee, KS; and Grant Wheeler of Jacksonville. Brothers: Lester Wheeler of Cottage Grove and Clint Wheeler of Los Angeles, CA; sister: Ida Kate Miller of Lolo, MT; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30th, at Noti Church of Christ. Remembrances in his name can be made to Boise Bible College, 8695 Marigold St., Boise, ID 83714.
