Obituary of Ora Wilson

WILSON: Ora Edna Mary May Wilson of Green Acres Lodge in Brandon, Manitoba, passed away September 3, 2012. Mom was born on the Hamilton farm, 10-7-15 in Stockton, Manitoba on August 2, 1933 to Charlie and Mary (Gillespie) Hamilton. When she was younger, since there was just Ora and her sister, they helped on the family farm. She went to Sunday school in Stockton at the United Church. As she got older, Ora enjoyed the barn dances with family and friends. She attended school in Stockton until grade 10. After her father's passing in 1958, her mother and Ora moved into Glenboro. Shortly after, she met and then married Glen Wilson on October 23, 1959. They moved to Cypress River where three out of four of their children were born. In the spring of 1963, the family moved east of Dauphin where they lived and farmed until 2008. Their last child was born in 1967, completing their family of two boys and two girls. In the spring of 2008, they moved into Dauphin and lived there until the fall of 2011. Due to failing health, they moved to Brandon to be close to their daughter until Ora's passing. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Glen Wilson, their daughter Arlene (Larry) Kolody of Brandon, son David Wilson of Dauphin, grandchildren Debra and Kelly Wilson, Patricia (David) Lane and Sarah Kolody, great grandson Christopher Wilson. Daughter-in-law Ann Wilson and her family of Dauphin, son-in-law Wayne Tanner and his family of Pine River, Manitoba, sister Ainsley (Bill) Roney of Wawanesa, Manitoba, sisters-in-law Uella Fjoser of Calgary, Alberta, Marge (Jerome) Stepp of Torquay, Saskatchewan and brother-in-law Don (Evelyn) Wilson of Red Deer, Alberta as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Charlie and Mary Hamilton, mother and father-in-law Porter and Ida (Smith) Wilson, son Brian, daughter Elaine and brother-in-law, Vern Fjoser. A private family service was held at Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
