Obituary of Lilly Lowell

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home for Lilly “Cat” Lowell of Springfield, who died Dec. 24 of age-related causes. She was 93. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.She was born Nov. 12, 1917, in Eufula, Okla., to Allen and Nellie Helms Short. She married Paul Windom in 1939. He died in 1943. She later married Earl Lowell.She was a homemaker and worked as a cleaning lady.Survivors include five children, Charles Windom, Barbara Ward and Martha Pittman, all of Springfield, Eugene Beebe of Ketchikan, Alaska, and John Lowell of Nordman, Idaho; three brothers, Dale Short and Earl Short, both of Tennessee, and Gerald Short of Georgia; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Her second husband, Earl Lowell, and a son, Cliff Lowell, died previously.Burial will be Thursday at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the VFW.
