Obituary of Disney "Dick" Wesley

WESLEY: Disney (Dick) Wesley passed away peacefully April 2, 2012 at the Assiniboine Health Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. He was born in Deloraine, MB May 29, 1921 to William and Margaret Wesley. The family moved to the family farm near Carroll, MB when he was eight years old. He completed Grade 10 and left home, working at various jobs across eastern Canada. He met and married Alice Hall of Foxwarren on June 11, 1948 and they had 64 wonderful years together. They had three daughters, Sylvia Mae Marshall of Birtle, Margaret Jean Garbolinsky of Minnedosa and Sharon Lynn Nagai of Calgary. Dick worked for Petro Canada for over 40 years delivering fuel to area farmers and in later years he was the dispatcher in the office. He was a member of Trinity United Church and an elder there for 10 years. Dick loved to golf, curl, play bridge and most of all he enjoyed times with his family. He kept in close touch with all of his relatives and delighted in visiting them over the years. "Uncle Dick" was a favorite to all the nieces and nephews. His greatest joy was his five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He delighted in going on holidays with them, attending all their weddings and just generally spending time getting to know them. He is survived by his loving wife Alice, daughters Jean (Gary) and Sharon (Mas) and son-in-law Robert Marshall. Grandchildren Brent (Susan), Tracy (Tim), Cory (Anne), Mikko (Chris), Allison (Perry). Great Grandchildren Elaine, Scott, Amy, Stuart, Matthew, Rachel, Tori, Kara. Brother Robert (Joan) of Carroll and sister Peggy (Clare) of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and William, daughter Sylvia and three brothers Andrew, Doug and Charlie. Dick embraced life and approached each day as a blessing. The family would like to thank the support staff, nurses and doctors at the Assiniboine Health Centre on the 3rd floor for their compassionate care, Brockie Donovan for the wonderful service and the Trinity United Church ladies for the delicious lunch. A celebration of Dick's life was held April 7, 2012 at Brockie Donovan with Mr. Lawrence McInnes officiating. Interment followed at the Carroll Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dick may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8 or charity of your choice. We'll miss you Dad, God bless you, rest in peace.
