Obituary of Marie Howard

Marie HowardA joint graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland for Marie B. Howard of Eugene and her husband, Lt. Col. Orland Howard. She died Dec. 29 of age-related causes. She was 93.She was born Aug. 18, 1917, in Makoti, N.D., to Thomas and Martha Larsen Stockdahl. She married Orland Howard on Jan. 2, 1943, in Montgomery, Ala. He died Jan. 5, 2006.She graduated from St. Olaf College and worked as an educator in high school and at Monroe Middle School.Survivors include three daughters, Beverly Schlichter of Castle Rock, Colo., Laraine Bowker of Eugene and Linda Howard of Dallas, Texas; a son, William of Boulder, Colo.; two sisters, Klara Johnson of Minneapolis and Metta Cogburn of Sacramento; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
