To the Barletta Family,
I wanted to share with you how sorry I am that Joe has died, but how glad I am that I was able to meet him. In the brief time that I was able to care for Joe, I learned so much. He was a professor until the end.
As a student nurse everyday is a challenge, but I never ever considered my time with Joe difficult. He was always forward and honest and so appreciative of everything that I could do for him. He never wanted to be a burden or a hindrance, but I couldn't think of anything more enjoyable to do than wash his neck pillows or find him more sweetener.
There was something about Joe s presence and character that made you want to sit and listen to him. In our conversations it was obvious to me how much he loved and valued his family; he had a life well lived. I feel truly blessed to have met such a deeply wonderful man.
