Obituary of Wayne Edwards

VENETA — Wayne Wilbur Edwards of Veneta died Jan. 11 of age-related causes. He was 87. No service is planned.He was born June 6, 1923, in Hoquiam, Wash., to Samuel and Mayme Purcell Edwards. He and his wife, Elsie, were married Sept. 28, 1945, in Chula Vista, Calif.He graduated from Oregon Technology Institute in Klamath Falls. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for 40 years as a professional gunsmith and was the owner of Ye Olde Gun Shoppe in Veneta.Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carol Johnson of Myrtle Creek, Joan Marvin of Eugene and Caron Castle of Veneta; 10 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
