Obituary of Edward Jarzabek

Edward JarzabekSPRINGFIELD — The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eugene for Edward John “Ed” Jarzabek of Springfield, who died Jan. 8 of pneumonia. He was 91.He was born Jan. 29, 1919, in Chicago to Joseph and Antonina Wilczyaski Jarzabek. He married Doris Weiss on May 6, 1950, in Phoenix, Ariz.He held ?a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the Lewis School of Aviation in Chicago. He served in the Navy on the USS Sibone and as a B-17 test pilot. He was owner of Budget Furniture Company in Phoenix for 33 years.Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Theresa Chipps of Eugene and Kathy Olson of Vancouver, Wash.; three sons, Joe of Sandpoint, Idaho, John of Phoenix and Jim of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Marie Hammerle, and a great-grandson, Colby Knight Chipps, died previously.Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.Remembrances may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
