Obituary of Cameron Dale Wiens
WIENS: Cameron Dale (Brillo) Wiens of Rivers, Manitoba passed away at the Rivers Health Centre on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the age of 50 years. Cam was born May 4, 1960 in Hamiota, MB and resided in Rivers, MB on the Wiens Family Farm. Cam spent his childhood on the Wiens Family Farm, where he worked at his father's side. This is where Cam developed his love for farming and the outdoors. Cam attended school in Rivers, MB until the age of sixteen. When he received his driver's license at the age of sixteen, he began his working life. He had a variety of jobs from working for the railway to trucking, but he was always involved with farming in one way or another. In Cam's early years, he was involved with the 4-H Beef Club, hockey and baseball. He also took great pleasure being the "gate" person for the Rivers Fair, which his father use to do. This gave Cam the perfect opportunity to meet people, his greatest joy. His most recent achievement was being on the Board of the Rivers Library, as reading was Cam's favorite past time. Cam's greatest interests were his love of reading, farming and his many, many friends. Cam is survived by his mother, Edith Gillett (Tom); brother Dave Wiens (Maggie Nickel and family), sister Jo-Anne Davis (Vic) and family, brother Gerry Wiens and niece Caitlin; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Cam was predeceased by his father, Jacob Henry Wiens in 1993. A Memorial Service and celebration of Cam's life was held at the Rivers United Church on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Glenna Beauchamp officiating. All those in attendance were considered Honorary Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cam may be made to the Prairie Crocus Regional Library, Box 609, Rivers, MB, R0K 1X0. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family would sincerely like to thank all doctors and nurses at HSC – SICU for the excellent care and attention afforded to Cam.
