Obituary of Mary Cunliffe Peters
PETERS: Mary Cunliffe Peters (née Field), passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 7, 2011 at the Valley View Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba. Mary was predeceased by her husband William Peters; sister Edna (Dale) Stephens, and brother Claud (Stella) Field. She is survived by her son Dale (Cathy), grandchildren Jeff and Dalynne; son Stephen (Donna), grandchildren Lisa (Mike) Grantham, Debbie (Jason) Charles; and daughter Claudia Kyllo (Rick), grandchildren Joey and Leah. She is also survived by great grandchildren Jason (Christine) and Kayla Grantham, Nicole and Amanda Charles. Mary was born in Brandon on December 19,1919. She worked as a stenographer at the Wawanesa Mutual, where she met her husband of 57 years. Mary and Bill permanently relocated to Brandon shortly after they married. She was the Superintendent of the Rosebud Sunday School at First Church United; a Brownie Leader; a "House Mother" at the Assiniboine Hospital nurse's residence and was a gifted artist and writer. She worked with her husband in their insurance business and raised her three children along with numerous Wheat King hockey players. A funeral service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Brandon Cemetery. Memorial donation may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 1K2.
