Obituary of Sarah Edith Eastley

EASTLEY: Sarah Edith Eastley passed away peacefully in her residence at Fairview Home on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, where she had resided since June 28, 2005. Sarah was born February 16, 1913 in the farm home located at NE 1-7-19 in Oakland Municipality. She was the second eldest of Herbert and Hannah Eastley's family. She received her education at Riverbank School, writing her Grade Eight exams in June 1927 at Carroll. As there was to be a new baby expected, Sarah was needed to help with her brothers and sisters. She always thought she would have liked to have taken up nursing, but was pleased when her nieces graduated. Sarah was involved with the ladies U.C.W. and the United Church at Berbank playing the organ for church, then later at Nesbitt. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and would always have tea for anyone who called. She enjoyed music, cards, and in earlier years dancing, knitting, quilting and gardening. Her greatest interests were with the church and community events, but especially family and friends, always ready to lend a hand where help was needed. Sarah was predeceased by her parents; Herbert and Hannah Eastley; brothers Stewart, Ernie, George, William; and sister Mary and brother-in-law Russell Daymond. She is survived by her sister Bertha; cousin Jack (Alice) Scott; nephews Ross (Delma) Eastley and their children, Jill (Dave) Martine, Kerri Jane (Graham) Congdon, Lisa Eastley, Reed (Jamie) Eastley; Ted (Margaret) Eastley and their son Mitchell; Bob (Bev) Daymond and Harvey Daymond; nieces Judy (Chuck) McCroary and their children Debbie (Rick) Owen, Tammy McCroary-Gowing (Mike), Kellie Ann (Jorden) Beally, Melinda (Jason) Moore and their children Kieran and Eamon, Candice (Ronald) Hebert and their children Dean (Lori) Hebert, Tammy Hebert plus several great great nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Eva and Loree Eastley, many relatives in England and friends. The Ceremony to Celebrate Sarah's life was held at Wawanesa United Church on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 with Rev. Carolyn Rushton officiating. Interment followed in the Minnewawa Cemetery.
