Obituary of Dr. Keith Drummond

DRUMMOND: Dr. Keith Drummond (1933 - 2010) passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the age of 77 years following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Regina where he received his elementary and secondary education before entering medical school at the University of Saskatchewan. He graduated in 1959, completing his internship at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Following his internship, he entered a partnership in family practice in Oxbow, Saskatchewan in 1961. He married Violet Hehn BScN; whom he met during medical school, on June 2, 1956. Keith and Vi had two children, Dale and Heather. Keith practiced in Oxbow for 28 years before moving to Brandon in 1989 where he practiced at the Brandon Clinic until 1999. While in semi retirement, he also did surgical assists at the Brandon Regional Health Centre until 2009. Keith was predeceased by his mother Florence, his father David and his brother, Allan. He is survived by his wife Vi, his son Dale (Linda), grandchildren Rhyan and Randi; and his daughter Heather, grandchildren Matthew and Joshua. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Gail Drummond, Helen Krozser, Loreen Irwin, and brother-in-law Lorne Hehn (Beth) and numerous nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. David Cathcart of Knox United Church. Interment of ashes will take place at Wheatwyn, Saskatchewan at a later date. In memory of Dr. Drummond, donations may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Western Manitoba Cancer Care Project" 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
