Obituary of Harvey Hoover

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Veneta for Harvey F. Hoover of Eugene, who died Jan. 17 of cancer. He was 75. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene.He was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Hamberg, N.Y., to Harvey and Gearlocan Millier Hoover. He married Marie Camalig on Dec. 27, 1999, in Blachly.He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1957. He served as fire chief for Keen County in California from 1964 until his retirement in 1991.Survivors include four sons, Christopher and Tab, both of Bakersfield, Calif., Scott of Atascadero, Calif., and Hajiwea of Eugene; a daughter, Leialoha Ybarra of Ashdown, Ark.; a sister, Peggy Shipman-Losh of Eugene; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A grandson, Christopher Brian Hoover, died previously.Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church or Camp Harlow.
