Obituary of William Henry Munday

MUNDAY: William Henry Bamforth. Dad was born October 17, 1923 in Kamsack, SK and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in his residence in Brandon. He was predeceased by his loving wife Lena on February 10, 2008. Dad will be sadly missed by his son Bob, daughter-in-law Bonnie (Balkwill), both of Okanagan Falls, B.C., granddaughter Dori of Penticton, B.C., and grandson Rob of Vancouver, B.C. He is also survived by his brother Charlie of Dauphin. Dad proudly served in the Army during the Second World War. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed all sports, in particular, golf and bowling. In 1982, Dad was voted the Outstanding Volunteer in Community Sports by the Manitoba Sports Federation. He was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame of Manitoba in October 1992. Dad worked as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and was a Ward Supervisor at the Brandon Mental Hospital for many years. The family would like to thank all those who assisted Dad over the last couple of years from the Brandon Regional Health Authority's Home Care Program to the Department of Veteran's Affairs. Both organizations helped Dad immensely. A very special thanks to Dr. Mary Egan for her excellent care over many years as well as a heartfelt thank-you to good family friend Wally Garlinski. Dad's request for a private family service will be respected. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation, if they please, to a charity of their choice.
