Obituary of Hazel Stires

JUNCTION CITY — Hazel Ellen Stires of Junction City died Jan. 16 of age-related causes at age 94. A family gathering will be held at a later date.She was born May 28, 1916, in Fairview, Okla., to Samuel and Nellie Hand Tuttle. She married John Stires on April 16, 1932, in Kansas. They were married for 22 years. In 1963, she married Earl Kent in Florence. They were married for 25 years. Both of the men died previously.She graduated from Castle Rock Charter School in 2005. She was a lifelong farmer who also owned two cafés.Survivors include five daughters, Peggy Salts of Junction City, Madeline Magelky of Eugene, Jackie Bowers of Harrisburg, Carolyn Lesley of Arcata, Calif., and Bobbie Weaver of Klamath, Calif.; a son, John Stires of Vancouver, Wash.; 27 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren. A son, Jeff, and two grandsons died previously.Arrangements by Murphy Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City.
