Obituary of Rodney Reed
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at the First Baptist Church in Eugene for Rodney “Rod” Reed of Eugene, who died Jan. 18 after a stroke. He was 85.He was born March 26, 1925, in Nebraska to Frances and Julia Huff Reed. He and his first wife, Bonnie, were married Dec. 2, 1945, in Broken Bow, Neb. They were married for 29 years. He married Hortie Lehrbach on Feb. 14, 1978, in Eugene.He graduated from Broken Bow High School. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945. He worked as a carpenter in Nebraska and, locally, for Westward Ho and Beck Brothers. In 1968 he became the supervisor of carpenters and painters for Sacred Heart General Hospital. He retired in 1985.Survivors include his wife; two sons, W. Bradley of Klamath Falls, and Joel of Eugene; two daughters, Linda Reed Haase of Bend and Julianne Reed of Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India; a stepson, Jack Walrath of Boring; a stepdaughter, Patricia Parker of Oregon City; three sisters, Betty Swick of Salem, Marian Woodward of Jefferson City, Mo., and Gwen Den Dooven of Denver; a brother, Robert of Hamburg, Iowa; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene.
