Obituary of Margaret Shanks

SHANKS: Margaret Shanks passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the age of 103 years at Rideau Park Personal Care Home with her "Girls" by her side. Margaret was born on November 6, 1916 in Reston, Manitoba. She married Lorne Shanks on July 14, 1940. They retired from farming in 1996 and moved to Brandon. Margaret moved to Oddfellows Corner in 2000 and resided there until moving to Rideau Park Personal Care Home in 2011. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Gayle Drysdale, Lorna Marshall (Ian Smith); grandchildren, Jason Drysdale (Susan), Michael Marshall (Ivona), Chris Drysdale, Keith Marshall, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents George and Marion Grieg; husband, Lorne Shanks; son-in-law's, Wes Drysdale and Terry Gillespie; sisters, Bessie Smith and Mary Funnel. The family appreciates the warm and compassionate care the staff at Rideau Park Personal Care home gave to Margaret. A private graveside service will be held at Pettapiece Cemetery.
