Obituary of Lloyd Douglas Brown
BROWN: With great sadness the family of Lloyd Douglas Brown announce his passing on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. He received his education in Virden. He worked for Scott National, Simplot Canada and others. Baseball was a major interest of his, being with the Brandon Clover Leafs as a player, coach/manager, and executive member. He was elected League President in 1984, serving three years. His pursuits and dedication in baseball earned him several awards. Lloyd was extremely proud of the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame to which he was inducted on four occasions; one especially being to the "All-Century Team" also known as Manitoba's Dream Team. He also enjoyed five and ten pin bowling leagues. Other interests involved his community service with the Brandon Kiwanis Club, director of the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, board member of Dinsdale Home and others. Lloyd leaves in his passing his loving wife Sharon (née Barnes & Russell); daughters: Sheena (Bill) Kavanagh and Cheryl-Lynn Russell; son Trevor (Maria) Russell; grandchildren: Meghan, Senan, Sha-Lynn, Codie and Tyler and great grandson Nolan. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Kathleen Brown; brothers: Sonny Brown and Gerry Brown; sisters: Peg Campbell and Kay Kosteriva. Lloyd's Funeral Service took place on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at First Baptist Church. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Lloyd may be made to a charity of choice.
