Obituary of Ralph Newman

Ralph NewmanFLORENCE — A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. March 1 at Willamette National Cemetery for Ralph E. Newman Jr. of Florence, who died Dec. 12 of congestive heart failure. He was 82.Newman was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Eugene to Ralph and Wanda Roach Newman. He married Wilma Chambers in Eugene. They later divorced. He married Carol Hoeye in 1962 in Eugene. She died in October 2007.He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and received two purple Hearts. He worked at Newman’s Fish Market through high school and after his military service before going into custom home building in Eugene and Florence.Survivors include his stepmother, Zelma Newman of Eugene; four sons, Shawn of Harrisburg, Kim of Sutherlin, Aaron of Junction City and Chad of Springfield; a sister, Edwena Newman Matychuck of Yachats; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
