Obituary of Charles Mamula

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home for Charles Chedo Mamula of Springfield, who died March 15 of age-related causes. He was 97.He was born Aug. 27, 1913, in Jasenak, Yugoslavia, to Simo and Milica Mamula. He married Mildred Govich on March 13, 1954, in Crown Point, Ind. She died June 15, 1997. He and his second wife, Ankica, were married June 3, 1999, in Eugene.He served in the Yugoslavian military and spent some time in a concentration camp in Italy during World War II. He worked for U.S. Steel in Indiana.Survivors include his wife; and a brother, Milan of Grand Point, Ind.Entombment will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
