Obituary of Dorothy Beikman

Dorothy was born in Washington County, Nebraska, fifty miles north of Omaha. She was raised on her parent's farm with sisters Roma, Selma, and Verna. She married Orvin Kuhls in 1940 and they had one son. They farmed in the area where they grew up. Orvin passed away in 1944 and Dorothy continued to operate and manage the farm until 1956 when she married Arthur Beikman from Eugene, Oregon, a native of Kansas. They resided in Eugene and together they owned and operated Four Corners Hardware Store on Roosevelt Blvd. for over twenty years, retiring in 1982. Dorothy, a talented seamstress, along with Art, a skilled woodworker, produced many unique craft items. In retirement they traveled to craft shows in the Northwest and also placed their creations at the Past Forty-Five organization in Cottage Grove, Oregon. She was an excellent homemaker and delighted in hosting many family dinners at their home through the years. Dorothy and Art were members of Grace Lutheran Church for over fifty years. She is survived by her sister, Verna Taylor of Eugene, Oregon; son Virgil (Marilyn) Kuhls of Milwaukie, Oregon; and three grandchildren: Annette Kuhls, Steven Kuhls, and Annette Beikman; one granddaughter, Constance Beikman and many nieces and nephews. Husband, Arthur and two adopted children predeceased her. A memorial service will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens Chapel on Thursday, April 7th, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Grace Lutheran Church building fund or theAmerican Heart Association.
