Dear Mike,
A month ago they called us with the horrible news - you were gone. We cried for days. You were missed.
Three weeks ago I walked up the "Little Matterhorn" - I went to call you when I got home to share my small triumph - but you were gone. I cried for days.
Two weeks ago they brought us your little Harriet so we could watch over her on your behalf for her final days. We cried for days. You were missed.
Last week was John's birthday. We waited for your call to joke that you were both the same age again but it never came. You were gone. We cried for days.
Today we sent Harriet to join you - she was purring on her journey to you - we were crying. You are greatly missed here but hopefully you have company there with you now.
Next week would have been your birthday - we won't get to call to share it with you. I'm sure we will cry some more. You will be missed.
We look out our camp window at your new trailer site that you won't ever use - it is empty now - and we cry some more.
We don't know what our future holds but we know it will be lonelier and sadder without you in it.
You will be missed forever.
