Obituary of John Thomas Seddon

SEDDON: John Thomas of Brandon, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Tom was born in Brandon on August 17, 1930. He attended Fleming School and New Era Collegiate; where he met his future wife Shirley. Tom worked as a stock boy at Scott Fruit and then was employed by Canada Post until he retired. Tom married Shirley Weaver in 1954 and built their home one block from where he was born. He resided there ever since. Tom and Shirley summered at Oak Lake Beach where they built their retirement home. They enjoyed many spring, summer and fall seasons there together. Tom continued to spend those three seasons there following Shirley's passing in 2005. Tom found joy when Mike, Tracy, Rachel, and Ryan would come out to the lake and go fishing or boating. Dad liked to break up the winter months by spending Monday nights watching Mike bowl and catching up with the guys. He also would head out west to Barb's and spend the time visiting at the lake or site seeing. He will be lovingly missed by his children Barb (Dave) and Michael (Tracy); grandchildren Caitlin, Jessica, Curtis, Rachel, and Ryan, as well as his sister Kathleen Krog. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Tom and Mary Seddon, his wife Shirley, and sisters Ida Stimson and Molly Rourke. A Memorial Service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Donations in memory of Tom may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Unit A1-800 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, MB, R7A 6N5 or to a charity of choice.
