Obituary of Jessie Broome
BROOME: Jessie Anna Freda Broome, née McCormick, died peacefully at Fairview Home in Brandon on Monday, March 19, 2012.
Jessie was born February 13, 1926 on the family farm south east of Cardale, Manitoba to Fred and Ruby McCormick. She spent her early life and received her education in Cardale. While Jessie worked at a variety of different jobs over the years, she took great joy in being a stay-home mother, wife, and grandmother. She was also a devoted pet parent, loving many lucky cats and dogs. During her years in Brandon, Jessie was an active participant at Legion #3, enjoying bingo and dances with good friends.
Jessie is survived by her son, Ian Broome (Marianne) and grandsons Connor, Joshua, and Landon of Brandon, brothers Bill McCormick (Mildred) of Rivers and Ab McCormick (Doreen) of Brandon, daughter-in-law Janice Harkness of Brandon, grandchildren Laurie Paddock of Edmonton and Jeff Paddock (Rayanne) and great-grandchildren Kelly, Jayme, and Jenna of Carberry. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and good friends who will also miss her.
Jessie was predeceased by her second husband, George Broome, in 1998, her sisters Margaret Graham and Jean Allen, and her parents. Her eldest son, Gerald Paddock, passed away in 2007.
Special thanks go to Dr. Egan and to the third floor staff at Fairview who treated Jessie and her family with such kindness and empathy during this difficult time.
Reverend John Dolloff officiated at a private family service on April 11, 2012 at Brandon Cemetery. Jessie has been laid to rest with her husband in the Veterans' Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Jessie's family request that donations be made to Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, MB, R7A 7M6 or to give the gift of life through the Canadian Blood Services.
