Obituary of Sherie Yvonne Tomiski

TOMISKI: After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Sherie Yvonne Tomiski (née Fiel), passed away surrounded by her family, on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Sherie was born on December 9, 1963 in Brandon. She grew up on a farm near Birtle, Manitoba, where she attended school and graduated from grade 12. Sherie began her working career as a hair stylist and later pursued her passion for nursing. Sherie graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1990. She worked in several areas at the Brandon Regional Health Centre; she particularly enjoyed working as an O.R. Nurse. Sherie was a strong union activist and held many positions such as local and regional President and was an MNU Board member; she was a natural born leader. Sherie could always find a bargain or a good deal, she could barter with the best of them. She enjoyed pottery, golfing, knitting and hosting backyard olympics and dances. Sherie was a champion at practical jokes. She loved helping others and always made time to listen to everyone. In her spare time, she worked as a Marriage Commissioner, practiced Reiki and was fascinated by angels and the spiritual world. She is survived by her loving husband and childhood sweetheart Darrell and their two wonderful children, Brayden and Sarah. Her parents Ed and Bonnie; sisters, Laurie (Michael) their children, Brittany (Dale) and Alex, Valerie (Tom) and their children, Jillian (Barrett) and Tommy, Shellie (David) and their children Dylan, Kenzie, Tyler and Anika. She will also be sadly missed by her in-laws Faye and Stan Tomiski, Bonnie (Alan) and daughter, Ashley, Phil (Jamie) and children Cheyenne, Alex and Blake. Sherie was predeceased by her brother Calvin and brother-in-law, Michael. In keeping with Sherie's wishes, there will be no service. A private family gathering will be held in her honour at a later date. In lieu of flowers, tell someone that you love them.
