Just read of Russ's passing. Sincere condolences to Russ's family and legion of friends. I worked with Russ while employed at CKX-TV - the Barry Forman/Bill & Sue On Hillman/Johnnie Skinner era. Russ was a first-class showman who knew how to 'grab and hold' a crowd.

Our sincere condolences to the Gurr Family. We were next door neighbours of Russ and Phyllis on 15th Street. When our son Joey was born, they became proud "grandparents". Russ always got a kick out of me hanging the baby clothes on their clothes line - smiling at what the neighbours would think! When Joey began to talk, they lovingly became known as "Grandpa Rice and Grandma Burger". This still brings a smile to my face today!
Our deepest sympathy to you all.

Uncle Barry, we are so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I have the most fond memories of his humor, wit and zest for life. The world needs more of his hardworking, ethical and compassionate character that he expressed and shared with so many.
He will be missed.
All our Love
Rick and family

Our sincere condolences to the family. Russ has meant so much to us over the years. Since the mid-'60s we did countless shows together and travelled many miles across Canada performing as the Federal Grain Train. He was a true friend and we valued his friendship and admired his professionalism and talent. Our online Russ Gurr Tribute is featured at: www.hillmanweb.com/russgurr

Our condolences to you all on Uncle Russ's passing. He was a wonderful man. We'll all miss his stories, humour and enthusiasm. He was such a bit hit at all those family gatherings and Gould reunions! To my cousins and all your families,
Our heartfelt thoughts go to you at this time. These days will be hard for everyone left behind, even as we know he is at peace now.
Uncle Russ is remembered with love and admiration. Imagine how many people told him he couldn't succeed at music, which he did in abundance. I remember many Christmas feasts at Uncle Russ and Auntie Phyllis' place with tables stretching out into the kitchen and kids all over, underfoot and downstairs. Good memories. Hold your good memories in your hearts and tell the generations to come about their heritage and roots. With love, Janet.
