Obituary of Doris May Morgan
MORGAN: Doris May Morgan of Brandon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the age of 86 years. Born on July 21, 1925 at High Bluff, MB, Doris was the youngest of twelve children born to Elizabeth (nee Favel) and Andrew Hourie. She was raised on the Hourie farm and attended school at High Bluff. During her lifetime, Doris worked as a farm labourer, a housekeeper and raising her family. She took great pleasure in listening to music, reading and enjoyed taking pictures. She spent a lot of time in her garden and was always very generous in sharing her produce with others. Doris loved to bake delicious bread, cinnamon buns and perogies and she always managed to find time every day to exercise. Doris is survived by her daughter Eleanor (John) Russell and their children Morgan and Roberta; Gerald (Shirley) Morgan and children Jaime, Donovan, Marlin, Gypsy, Shannon, Kelsey and Patrick; Wade (Kathy) Morgan and children Brett, Tom, Staci and Brock. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Phillip Hourie, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Doris was predeceased by her husband Edward Evans "Ted" Morgan in 1958, son Edward Evans Morgan in 2003, granddaughter Rhonda Kematch in 2007, and by ten brothers and sisters. The Memorial Service was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on October 29, 2011 with Arlene Robertson officiating. The urnbearer was grandson, Brett. A private family graveside service took place at the Hillside Cemetery in Portage la Prairie. Donations in memory of Doris may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Unit 3-824-18th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 5B7.
