Obituary of Emma Wright

Emma Wright (née Ducharme) 1928-2011, daughter of Daniel Ducharme and Mary Lamirande. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emma Wright, who left us on Saturday, October 8th, 2011 after a lengthy stay at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon at the age of 83 years. Emma was born in St. Ambroise, MB, on September 20, 1928. She married Richard Wright on October 14th, 1947. Emma spent all her life in Manitoba, except for three years in Camp Borden, ON. Emma loved being a homemaker and took pride in everything she did. Emma overcame many adversities in her life, beating polio at age seven she raised three children and was married for 63 years. Emma was predeceased by brothers J. Gaspard (1937), J. A. Daniel (1934), father Daniel, mother Mary (née Lamirande), sisters Bertha (Tycholaz), Blanche (Connelly), and Shirley (White). Emma is survived by her husband Richard, sons Larry (Patricia), Rick (Joan), daughter JoAnne, five grandchildren (Craig, Kelly, Tracey), (Jeff, Adam), four great grandchildren (Kaitlyn, Jenna), (Griffin, Aubrey) and her brother John (Esther) Ducharme. Emma's family would like to thank the wonderful nurses who cared for Emma while in Palliative care, 3rd floor, Assiniboine Centre and to the doctors and staff. A special thanks to Paul and Frances Pillipow, Clara Marriott and Sherry Bell for your love and support while Emma was in hospital. In keeping with Emma's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date. Memorial services will be conducted by Rev. Jim Brown, Pastor of St. Georges Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Palliative Care" 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
