He was the youngest of six children born to Anna Wogensen and Hans Christian Pedersen. After doing farm work for his brother, Leo, and uncle, Nis, Roy moved out to the west eventually settling in Junction City. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army from 1945 through 1946. He drove a log truck during the era when one tree was all that would fit on the truck. He ventured into other kinds of trucking and later signed on with Eugene Farmer’s Creamery where he delivered dairy products to many homes in Junction City. He later became the Retail Route Supervisor for Darigold and obtained his GED along the way. Roy married his hometown sweetheart, Vera B. Jensen on February 21, 1947. Vera preceded him in death February 2000. He was a long-standing member of Faith Lutheran Church in Junction City and a master in the Masonic Lodge. His hobby was farming. After his “retirement” in 1979, he worked summers at Reerslev Farms driving machinery and performing other farm work. He was close to the Reerslev family and remained so even after full retirement in 1993. Roy had high expectations for himself and those around him but was also a gentle sole with a heart of gold. We will miss him.Survivors include a son, Robert Pedersen, of Redlands, California daughters Janice Travis of Turlock, California and Carol Pedersen Moorehead, of Sisters, Oregon, a sister, Wanda Sondergaard, of Brookings, South Dakota, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
